The Emerging Technologies Track is a new element of the Technical
Program at SC13. It is aimed at providing a showcase on the SC13 show
floor for novel projects at a national or international scale. It is
different from other aspects of the technical program, such as
contributed presentations and posters, in that it will provide a forum
for discussing large-scale, long-term efforts in high performance
computing, networking, storage, and analysis, rather than a recent
research result that such a project might have achieved. Emerging
Technologies will provide space in a booth at an attractive central
location of the SC13 show floor. The booth will facilitate displays,
presentations, and spontaneous discussions among participants and
visitors.

Possible presentation styles are manifold and can be chosen by the
proposers. Emerging Technologies welcomes exhibitions of real hardware
prototypes and demonstrations of software as well as project presentations
in poster form, animated displays, and scheduled presentations or
discussions. Successful projects will display future technologies with
the potential to influence computing and society as a whole.

Submissions are accepted through the submission website. Each submission
should describe the project scope in detail and provide references to
external resources (newspaper articles, webpages etc.). Additional
materials, such as prototype photos are very welcome. Each project also
needs to describe how much space it would require and how it would use
the space provided (include any additional requirements such as A/V
equipment or network connectivity). Projects will be selected based on
a peer-review process with a single round of reviews.

The official Emerging Technologies Call for Papers:

SCHEDULE AND SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

* Submission deadline:          July 31, 2013
* Notification of acceptance:   August 31, 2013

SUBMISSION FORMAT:

Submissions are accepted as single pdf including all important elements
such as references, photos of prototypes, a description of the project
etc. We suggest that proposals use the following structure:

1) Description of the project (including references and importance to SC
   community)
2) Space requirements (i.e., how much space, what kind of displays,
posters, video walls, standing displays, size, photos, additional
security requirements, and additional equipment requirement, e.g.,
   network connections or displays)
3) Staffing (would the project be able to have somebody in the booth,
   perhaps part time?)
4) Presentation (would you be willing to give one or two talks in a
   theater describing your project?)
5) Miscellaneous (everything that is important to add and doesn't fit in
   the categories above)
