Deadline extended until Nov. 23rd!

=============================================================================
* Workshop on Leveraging Abstractions and Semantics for High-Performance Computing (LASH-C)
* Co-located with PPoPP 2013
* Shenzhen, China, from February 23–27, 2013.
* URL: https://engineering.purdue.edu/~milind/lashc13/
=============================================================================

Increasingly, high-performance applications are written using various high-level abstractions, from libraries to domain-specific languages, and with each passing year, new abstractions and models are being proposed. These abstractions often possess specific semantic properties, either domain-specific (such as mathematical properties of a domain's operations) or general (such as locality or layout information in a data-structure library). Nevertheless, by taking advantage of these abstractions or semantic properties, applications can be restructured, computations can be rescheduled, algorithms can be refined and data layouts can be tuned to improve performance.

The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers who are investigating how to take advantage of high level semantic information, abstractions and domain-specific knowledge to write, optimize and transform high-performance applications.

The workshop will be a mix of invited talks and presentations selected from extended abstracts submitted to the committee. Topics of interest include:

	• Domain-specific languages and abstractions
	• Data-structure abstractions
	• Algorithm abstractions
	• Extending existing programming models to incorporate higher levels of abstractions
	• Using semantics to improve synchronization, scheduling, locality, etc.
	• et cetera

Those interested in presenting a talk at this workshop should submit a 1–2 page extended abstract to lashc.committee at gmail.com. Include a complete list of authors, their affiliations and contact information (e.g., address, telephone number, and email address), and please identify the corresponding author for your submission.

Accepted abstracts and slides for talks will be posted online prior to the workshop.

Important Dates:

	• Submission deadline: November 23rd, 11:59pm PDT
	• Notification of acceptance: December 1, 2012

Committee:

	• Milind Kulkarni, Purdue University (chair)
	• Greg Bronevetsky, Lawrence Livermore National Labs
	• Guang Gao, University of Delaware
	• Samuel Midkiff, Purdue University
	• David Padua, University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign
	• Keshav Pingali, University of Texas at Austin
