[I submitted this to hpc-announce a week ago but I don't think it ever appeared. My apologies if you get this twice.]

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Disciplined Parallel Programming project. This project aims to develop novel language and compiler techniques to simplify parallel programming. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will collaborate with a highly creative research group while enjoying extensive creative freedom. The candidate will have the opportunity to present research results at top-tier conferences; to collaborate on research proposals; and to release software tools in open source form.

Minimum requirements include:
• a PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering;
• a good publication record and strong evidence of creativity, initiative, and hard work; and
• experience with programming languages, compilers, or run-time systems for shared memory parallel computing.

Any of the following would be a plus:
• experience with one or more large compilers or similar software systems.
• experience with a range of programming methodologies for parallel systems;
• experience with parallel application programming.

The position is for two years, with renewal for a third year possible, based on performance and funding. Salary is commensurate with experience.

For full consideration, please send a cover letter, resume, and the names of 3 professional references via email to Professor Vikram Adve (vadve at illinois.edu). The position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is identified.
