[Darshan-users] Help needed, Darshan keeps crashing in Lustre filesystem

Hi Radita,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us.

Darshan has some internal mechanisms for probing information on Lustre file striping that appears to be deprecated in recent versions, triggering that error. We are looking into the issue now to see if we can find the proper way to get this info in newer Lustre versions. We'll keep you posted on what we find, but hopefully we can have a proper fix out in a release soon.

In the meantime, I think you should be able to work around the issue by disabling the Lustre module altogether inside of Darshan. Assuming you have access to the Darshan build you are using, you would just need to add this option at configure-time: '--disable-lustre-mod'

Dear all,

I would like to ask for some suggestion on how to fix the problem with Darshan keeps crashing when running on Lustre filesystem.

The error message as follow:

using old ioctl(LL_IOC_LOV_GETSTRIPE) on [0x2c002048c:0x25:0x0], use llapi_layout_get_by_path()

The application works without Darshan and it only crashes when using Lustre (I have tried running the application with Darshan in other filesystems)

Previously it worked at the same Lustre node before the administrator made cluster update.

Is there any new version of Darshan or another workaround for this problem?

Thank you in advance
