[AG-TECH] Video capture card Advice request

Khanh

I suspect your issue is that you tried to "store" the configuration
without selecting the "Set as default" option, or you tried to save as
the default (system) config, which requires "root" permissions. I have
submitted a bug report to get this issue fixed, see
http://bugzilla.mcs.anl.gov/accessgrid/show_bug.cgi?id=1777.

My advice is to try saving your configuration as a different name, such
as standard, select the "Set as default" option and everything should
work fine.

On a side note, saving multiple configurations is extremely handy. I
generally have a number of config's saved, such as:

*         Standard;

*         Standard + VPCScreen;

*         Single Camera;

*         Triple Cameras;

*         Low Bandwidth;

*         Audio Only;

This highlights a few common configurations I use. Using Tools ->
Configurations -> [Config Name] allows the easy switching between one
config to another.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Jason.

Hi Jason,

We happened to configure AG in a same way as Doug's suggestion, however,
it did not work.

The problem is the saved configuration did not loaded .

We encountered a different problem with the FC10 when replaced the
TripleheadToGo by dual graphics cards and have not fixed them yet.

However, the same systems when booted into Windows XP working well.

G'day Khanh

Did the suggestion Doug make help?

As I use a number of IVC-200 video cards without any problems on Fedora
10.

Jason.

Hi Khanh,

We are looking to replace the 4-cameras inputs IEI-IVC 200 cards.

	They are running well on the windows XP machine. However, they
gave

	poor quality on the Fedora 10 system. Even worse, we must
configure

	the video to transmit PAL signal (using H.261) every time we
start

	Access Grid.

I suspect you haven't configured the Video Producer Service to use PAL
and saved the configuration. Or maybe you are setting it to PAL
directly in VIC, which it'll forget the next time VIC is started. See
the following on how to configure a Video Producer:

http://www.accessgrid.org/node/1770

you might also like to increase the bandwidth and quality sliders to see
if that makes any difference.

Cheers,
Doug
