[AG-TECH] Venue Server Certificate

Hi Satya:

The VenueServer is, internally, a web server using SSL. For this
reason, a certificate is required.

As a convenience, we have issued certificate for the AG community for
years. It's simple to request and install a certificate, and the
associated CA certificate is included with client installations. This
is exactly the procedure used by web servers and browsers, where your
browser ships with many well-known CA certificates.

If you want to issue your own certificates, you're free to do so. The
AG software supports import of third-party CA certificates and server
certificates to make this possible. One problem you will encounter is
that your users must have your CA certificate installed, so you'll have
to make it available to them with instructions for importing it.

I've long thought that we should support an administrative mechanism for
shipping configuration state to user communities (e.g., CA certificates,
venue server preferences, bridge preferences), but the impetus for that
has not yet materialized. I'd be happy to advise such an effort, and
wouldn't expect it to be difficult.

Tom
