[AG-TECH] Is PING required?

Hi Ben:

The short answer is that it is not required for any of the components
you've specified, as of 3.0.2, and will not be for 3.1.

'ping' was used prior to 3.0.2 for examining the reachability of
bridges. As of 3.0.2, it was replaced by an RPC call over TCP. You'll
see code in RegistryClient.py that still uses the 'ping' method, but
that is only for pre-3.0.2 bridges and will be removed before long.
