The snd_mixer_selem_get_capture_volume error you are getting is from the
ALSA code in AG rat. You could try UCL rat from the Sumover SVN
repository which has a number of fixes to the ALSA code and can be used
as a drop in replacement (AG 3.1 will be using it). Sumover Project SVN
