[AG-TECH] Questions about remote presentation technology software

G'day John

We here at CQU use a number of different methods for "Sharing" a
presentation.

*	Using VNC, works well, but due to firewalls external
participants are unable to view the presentation. (You might want to
try VenueVNC) Poor frame rates, ie cannot stream mpegs, etc.

*	Using Shared Presentation, works well, but again you are relying
on the Venue Server to be up, etc.

*	Using Shared Desktop (see agcentral.org), as this share
applications appears to work well, but again the firewall issues pops up
again. Poor frame rates, ie cannot stream mpegs, etc.

*	Using the TV output of the computer, I stream the desktop as a
"vic" stream. Works well, but quality is poor due to codec being used.
No need to worry about firewalls and has good frame rates and can stream
multimedia files well.

I regularly the above methods myself, and each have their own niche
markets...

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Cheers,
Jason.

Subject: [AG-TECH] Questions about remote presentation technology
software

Hello AG Tech,

What technology do you prefer to display a presentation over the Access
Grid?

For instance, do you use VNC external to the venue client by installing
a
VNC server for others to view from a VNC client or do you choose to
upload a
presentation to the venue client?

What other methods do you use to display a presentation over the Access
Grid
and why?

As I am experiencing VNC client drop off from the external VNC server we
use, I would like to consider other options. The VNC server has its
firewall turned off during presentations.

Thank you,

John
