In a separate but coincidental occurrence, inSORS has recently (this week)
deployed a custom venue and bridge solution for NCHC in Taiwan. I have not
determined whether this group that made the initial request for help is
aware of this. I am contacting our contact at NCHC. We are also working
with our Asian partner, Best Systems, to assist in deploying AG nodes,
software, and training to this community.

Wide area call for Access Grid Expertise and Volunteers to Assist in
Establishing Emergency Response Network to Combat SARS in Taiwan
Given the rapid spread of SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome),
researchers at the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC)
are working with the Department of Health of Taiwan, the World Health
Organization (WHO) of the United Nations, and the Center for Disease
Control (CDC) of the United States to install access grid technology in
three hospitals in the north of Taiwan.
Our PRAGMA Partners at NCHC (http://www.nchc.gov.tw/) are requesting
assistance from the world grid community for volunteers with expertise in
access grid technology to provide additional technical advice as and when
needed. An immediate need is for expertise in establishing an access grid
server in Taiwan. The need is immediate, as first steps need to be in place
by 20 May 2003.
If you are willing and able to help, please immediately contact:
Fang-Pang Lin at:
fplin at nchc.gov.tw
or
Steven Shiau at:
steven at nchc.gov.tw
Thank you all in advance for any and all assistance you are able to
provide.
