Well, I have finally been able to get the venue client to work under Linux.
Mind you I have
no idea what I did to make it work. The story is basically this. Ivan
installed the rc1 on my
laptop at the Alliance all hands meeting. It didnt work under wireless
there. I came back to
my office and tried it on the wired network. No joy. The dreaded "invalid
URL" window kept
popping up. I gave up in disgust.

Today I returned to the battle with a fresh HP workstation and a virgin
install of RedHat 7.3.
Did the AG install boogie and everything went well untill I pushed the GO
button on the
venue client. INVALID URL!!! Blast! I knew this could be done because I
talked to George
Estes earlier in the day and he had done it under RedHat 8.0. He even
showed it to me.
I went back to my office and monkeyed around some more. I thought I would
give the laptop a
try. Lo and Behold it connected on the first try! I didnt do anything to
it. It just worked. Maybe the
good karma had extended to the HP I thought. I gave that machine a try and
the blasted
invalid url message returned. So now I have two linux systems. One works
and one doesnt.
My job next week is to try to figure out what is the difference between them.

Have a good weekend AG-Techies. And stay tuned to the adventures of Dave in
AG Linux land!
