Hello,
Please plan to attend the presentation and demo of Voice elVIAS by Digital
Equity Scholar Juan Gilbert of Auburn University. On Tuesday, June 17 from
noon to 2 p.m. CST in 5239 Beckman Institute there will be an Access Grid
presentation giving an overview of the development of the voice user
interface to elVIAS (http://elvias.ncsa.uiuc.edu/) as well as a
demonstration of the system.

As part of the DE Visiting Scholar's Program Gilbert collaborated with
members of the Visualization and Virtual Environments Group as well as the
Knowledge and Learning Systems Group to create a voice interface to elVIAS.
Gilbert and I will be broadcasting from the Access Grid located at Georgia
Tech University.

The elVIAS search engine is an information retrieval, archival, and
processing system for the ELearning domain. Voice elVIAS integrates
automatic speech recognition (ASR) and information retrieval (IR) to
provide hands-free, eyes-free access to data.

Thank you,
