Hello Charles nad Kabe,

I have downloaded oss3971-linux-v2x.tar.gz from Opensound website.
The package does not have any compiled version for kernel 2.4.18-3 so I 
had to compile the driver locally. It is fine now.

I'll give a try to ALSA in the future.
