A special bonus, *only* being announced on ag-tech (not in the many
other places we're flooding with info about this thing): We're going to
try to broadcast this over RealMedia as well, on a somewhat experimental
basis; the appropriate URL will be sent to ag-tech shortly before the
event. If it works, which we're reasonably sure it will, we'll make an
archive available so people can play it back at their leisure, and
announce the location of the archive to the larger community.

SC Global is the multi-national and multi-cultural meeting place for
communication and discussion of ideas relating to high-end computing and
communications and their impact on science and society. SC Global 2003
will be the second time we've held such an event; we have the
opportunity to build on the successes of SC Global 2001, and to learn
from its challenges.

SC Global will include several Showcase events featuring art, music,
dance, and other innovative uses of advanced collaboration technologies.
In addition, SC Global will be an important extension of SC 2003's
high-quality technical program. For example, papers presented in SC
Global will meet the same high standards as those in the regular
Technical Papers sessions.

Sites which present content during SC Global 2003 will be known as
Constellation Sites. In addition, there will be participation from
Global Satellite Sites and Observer Sites. Global Satellite Sites will
provide audience interaction from around the world, while Observer Sites
will allow for passive viewing.

The presentations on January 15 will feature information about the
process for becoming a Constellation Site, including the factors which
the SC Global Review Team will consider in deciding which proposals to
accept as part of the SC Global program, and the technical and
production requirements for participating sites.

I hope you will join us in participating in SC Global 2003. And of
course, feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions or
comments.

Yours,
Jennifer Teig von Hoffman, Chair, SC Global 2003
