[AG-TECH] Question about Codec

Hi -

if anyone is doing this, be sure to look at elan amir's dissertation
work. sadly, i do not know of a pointer to an on-line version, but he
did write some papers. and, OM has the code for his MegaGateway
(megagw) in it. you are probably wondering what does it do?

well, you can configure the gateway to forward selected streams across a
bandwidth-limited link. elan would run vic/vat at home using an ISDN
connection (symmetric 128Kbs) and he could select which streams would be
forwarded to his home and which would not. the gateway also did
prioritization of the audio stream over the video streams, for obvious
reasons.

now you are probably thinking, that's great, can i run it. and the
answer, as with nearly all OM projects done by students, is only if you
take the time to read/understand something about the code and the way
the apps work. i don't recall their being documentation about the
gateway and apps, but there are some papers that elan published about
the models and algorithms. here is the reference to the paper:

i'm sure you can find other reference by googling it.
