Hello Steve,
We've successfully chained the Sony EVI-D30s to one serial port.
The specs say you can chain up to 7, but we've tested with up to 3
cameras. Some old API that I have shows this pinout below for the
daisy-chain cables:
MD8P MD8P
1 DTR --------- 2 DSR
2 DSR --------- 1 DTR
3 TXD --------- 5 RXD
4 GND --------- 4 GND
5 RXD --------- 3 TXD
6 GND 6 GND
7 IR OUT 7 OPEN
8 MD Caution 8 OPEN
So 5 pins need to be wired, but I do suggest buying cables from
sites mentioned by Ivar.
If you want to control the cameras from a computer (up to 7 on one port is
possible), we have a camera control system available at http://www-itg.lbl.gov/mbone/devserv.
