[AG-TECH] Access grid, shared PPT

There are many improvements that could be made to the existing dppt. The
history of dppt is that it was a quick implementation targetted for a
specific event (the ACCESS-DC opening gala in April of 1999), where we
first demonstrated an AG-like system. It has not been significantly changed
since then, since it has enough functionality to handle what we want to do,
albeit clumsily.

If you would like to help out with improvements to it, that would be great
:-). One of the big challenges we are facing with this project is that
there is a huge number of improvements and modifications and new features
we would like to make to the environment, and only a finite amount of
resources (time, developers, etc).

One of the directions we plan to take the AG in is toward a much richer
sharing of data and state information in the venues.

Have you looked at the proceedings from the AG retreat? They are at
http://www-fp.mcs.anl.gov/fl/accessgrid/ag-retreat-2001/proceedings.htm
and there are talks in there that address some of these issues (see Terry's
talk about workspace docking, my talk about peer to peer architectures,
Ivan's talk about node management, etc.)
