                           LIVE! ON THE ACCESS GRID
                  The Globus Toolkit: Middleware for the Grid

                       A 2-Day Workshop and Tutorial on
                  Globus--An enabling tool for Metacomputing

We are soliciting your interest in participating in this event, showcasing
the use of the Access Grid for the benefit of Alliance members.

Please respond indicating your interest by March 29th.

WORKSHOP DATES: May 3-4, 2000

TIME:
Day 1: 10:00 - 5:00 EST
Day 2: 10:00 - 5:00 EST
(Node system tests to begin at 8:30am EST both days.)

DESCRIPTION:
The goal of this two-day workshop is introduce the concept of Grid computing
and
the Globus Toolkit, a software toolkit for supporting Grid applications.
The
workshop will include:

* a high-level overview for executives, directors, scientific leads,
  and program managers
* an introductory tutorial explaining the capabilities and services
  provided by the Globus Toolkit
* a full-day, detailed tutorial for software developers.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARTICIPATING SITES:
* Solicit participation from local communities (email announcements, etc.).
* Provide seating and an operational Access Grid Node for attendees.
* Provide a Master of Ceremonies to facilitate attendee participation in the
workshop.
* Schedule node operators for the duration of the workshop, as well as for
preliminary practice sessions.

Sites may elect to offer refreshments and/or receptions at their discretion.
