Shiprock status

PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

At last check, we didn't have audio from Shiprock. Audio to shiprock
worked. It's a cable problem at Shiprock. We will have to be careful with
silence suppression. We can't afford to broadcast 256Kbps of silence per node.

No idea what's up with video capture or display at Shiprock. I've not yet
seen any information on what cameras are available, whether or not display
system is up, whether projectors are in place, etc etc.

WE NEED TO TEST VIDEO. We need to determine how much traffic we can pass
through to Shiprock.

PARTICIPATING NODES: Please be ready to test video and audio on the private
group tomorrow.

NON-PARTICIPATING NODES: Please stay OFF the private group, even for
receive only use. You can watch and listen to the proceedings in the
Windmer room, which is one-way bridged from the private group. This bridge
is up and working fine.

Network folks: participating host info is on the shiprock info page.

Multicast seems to be working fine to Shiprock, broken to UNM. At last
check Bill working away at it. UNM audio working fine thru bridge at ANL.

I would be a lot more comfortable with all this if there were someone at
Shiprock who was familiar with the Access Grid gear and with putting on AG
events.

I'd hoped to see Ernie online tonight -- are you going to be around first
thing in the morning?

I recommend all priority tomorrow morning go to getting the one node
operational, and forgetting about the second halfnode. At this point I hold
little hope for doing much presentation-wise in the afternoon.

Please do not expect me to present anything in the noon timeslot.

Is Al Kuslikis familiar with the AG at all? I've not seen him online. If he
is MCing at Shiprock he's going to have to be online in the morning, from
Shiprock, practicing.

What does this mean:
7:00 - 8:00 MDT
President Clinton Address's the Digital Divide
(url of video feed to be supplied on Monday)

How many microphones are going to be in use at Shiprock? I've just seen
mention of a single receiver. I'm hoping there are multiple receivers to be
hooked up, as sending multiple mics into a single receiver & gentner input
is a recipe for trouble.

Has anyone thought about the issue of what if Clinton wants to talk? We
need to make sure that if that is a possibility, that it will work. That
means well tested ahead of time.

Does everyone have the updated audio software loaded? See the shiprock
information page at http://www-fp.mcs.anl.gov/fl/accessgrid/shiprock.htm.
The current script from Ernie is linked there.

I don't have full IP/hostname information from Shiprock or MHPCC.

SLIDES: I hear Nestor is using slides. We need to get those distributed.
Has anyone tested dppt at Shiprock?

IS ANYONE ELSE EXPECTING TO USE SLIDES?

MHPCC: will you need bridging?

MANY THANKS to OSC, ACCESS, Kentucky, NCSA, and BU for hanging out tonight,
and to Bill and George in Shiprock, and John G in Albequerque, for spending
the evening trying to make this work.

Let's try to get started around 8:00am MDT tomorrow. We need all the time
we can get.
