Five Things

I know some of this is funded, but these are things I think would add a
lot of value.
* Integration of device control
This should include camera control, but we should pursue more
interesting examples, too, like a microscope.
* Eye contact
I'm with Terry on eye contact; the research on how communication
is affected is important to consider, but in a practical sense,
the requirements of simulating collocated conversation seem pretty
clear, making it a logistical problem that we can solve.
* Layout
Important in its own right, but necessary for associating windows
with cameras to support eye contact
* Identification of speaker (voice-switched video)
I don't know how we've gotten by for so long without this
* Access to compute resources
This would strengthen our position as the "user interface to the
grid". This applies directly to community database resources
(such as what's used by a virtual observatory, or--I imagine--SWOF).
