Hi,

     I'm using 43 files.

Output of head -n1 foo.fXXXX | strings

#std 4 5 5 5 37632 37632 0.1000000000000E-02
1 0 1 UPT

Attached is the database file. It contains

NEK3D
version: 1.0
filetemplate: high_ray%d.f%04d
firsttimestep: 1
numtimesteps: 43

The simulation seems to be going ok and nek is running fine. I'm using Visit 1.12.2 svn revision 9638 and nek svn revision 518. Any clue as to why this is happening?
