Subject: [POOL] APL Week #1

Welcome back to everyone for the Fall 2019 season. Attached are the results and stats after week one. Please check for accuracy. I have also attached the score sheets for next week, that you’ll find in your envelopes when you arrive. If we’re running a little late in bringing the sheets, you can use this to see what tables you are on, who your playing and even determine your match ups and get started. If both players agree, you can even start a little early. As a reminder, Jason Boggs is now helping run the league, so you can go to him with questions or concerns.

New players. We had 3 new players start last week. Craig Stacey returned to Team #2 "The Moe Szylak Experience”, Kelly Hiligas joined Team #1 “Cue Therapy”, and Michael Garver joined Team 3 “Bass Ackward”. Please welcome them when you see them. We also have several new players scheduled to start next week and a waiting list of players. So if your team can take another player, let me know.

Captains meeting. We had the captains meeting and mostly everyone is happy with the way things are going. There is a new change this session and there will no longer be negative handicaps. It is also noted that when you have players here they should be played. Consideration can be given if your table is ahead of schedule, but if your player is just late, you should play someone who is already here. Matches should take one hour, so you should expect match 1 to start at 5:30, #2 at 6:30, and #5 and 9:30. If your way ahead of schedule, then work with the other team please. And we should discuss pace of play. We’ve all been involved in long drawn out battles that can take 2 hours, but they should be rare. Please make every effort to speed up play. Be conscious of long coaches and over contemplating every shot. If possible, use the restroom before you play. I don’t think we have a serious problem, but we have a few players that could shoot a little faster.

Website and Periscope. We will again try to broadcast our Periscope matches. You should download the Periscope app or watch on the computer at Periscope.tv<http://Periscope.tv>. Search for LeaguePool (or even Argonne Pool League). A direct link is also on our website, as well as all sorts of information on the league. blogs.anl.gov/billiards<http://blogs.anl.gov/billiards>
