[POOL] Argonne Pool League - Week 13

Attached are the schedule, standings and results.  As always, please review for accuracy.  There is 1 week left this session.  And next week will be our holiday celebration.  There will be a table set up to share holiday goodies and you are all encouraged to dress festively.  If the goodies are anything close to last year, prepare for a sugar overload. Everyone should try and make it even if they are not scheduled to play.

League standings -  There is a battle for 2nd place in the league MVP; Tami Martin, Dean Bass, Steve Clancy, and Melanie Matejko all are in the hunt.  First and second for the team competition are between Teams 3 and 7, but even more exciting is a current 4 way tie for 3rd.   The league starts up again January 8, 2019 and prizes will be awarded then.

New player - Please welcome our newest player Kat Nguyen.  Kat joins team 8 “Holdin’ Our Own”.

Proposed new handicap table - I’d like to discuss next week a new handicap table I’ve been working on.  It’s primary goal is to discourage very high handicap players from matching up with very low handicap players.  This is done by creating a second category in the two highest handicap groups that are a 9:1+ and a 6:1+.  The + would mean in addition to only having to win 1 game, they would get ball in hand 1 time during the match.  I know it would have made a difference in my match with Muhsin last night.  The “+" mostly benefit the negative handicap players, but I’ve also put in other adjustment to have more mid range differentials not go to only 1 game.    I’ll come by and talk to each of you next week on your thoughts and we can look at examples of how it might impact some of your races.
