Week 2 finished with 2 very exciting team match ups. Team 7 “No Sweat” and Team 8 “Holdin’ Our Own” came down to the last match. Jim Krueger played well and beat a very difficult Scott Peterson to win for No Sweat. The other close match was between team 3 “Bass Ackward” and team 4 “Nice Rack”. It came down again to a deciding match between Dave Stevens and Dustin Craig. In the deciding game Dave made a clutch 5 ball out to beat Dustin and Bass Ackward will play No Sweat to decide 1st and 2nd in the playoff.

In other news, Team 8 “Holdin Our Own” has a new captain, Karle Blahut. Jenny Erdmann stepped aside citing “I just want to focus and on my pool game and winning. It’s all about the team.” She added, “I’ve been grooming Karle for some time, and she’s ready.” Karle was excited and said “I see great things for our team in the future”. Good luck Karle!

Also, last week I experimented with a Periscope broad cast of a couple of our pool matches. Periscope is an App for smart phones and tablets. I do not believe it is available on computers. I think it could be fun for people to watch at home who can’t make, or to watch a recap after it happens. Broadcasts are available for 24 hours after they occur. If you want to see how it works, get the “Periscope” app and register. Then look for the Argonne Pool league and follow us. If you ask for notifications, you’ll get a message anytime we do a broadcast. It is also possible to comment and send “hearts” during and after the broadcast. There is a “Test Broadcast” for our followers from last night. It will likely disappear later tonight. It contains Gary Zeman vs Amanda Kvapil and that deciding match between Dave Stevens and Dustin Craig. Unfortunately the battery gave out on the phone, so the Dave’s deciding table run was not recorded. In my experience, we will likely get a lot of followers we don’t know and there may be comments that are inappropriate. I’ll try to control them as much as I can, and if it gets out of hand there are mechanisms to make the broadcasts more private. We’ll see how it goes. See me next week if you’d like me to consider recording your match.

Finally, don’t forget, no league dues next week I’ll be giving every one there session prizes and minimum playoff winnings at the beginning of the night. There will also be an additional $25 cash award for the winners of each team match. And don’t forget about the free food. We have pizza and wings coming at 6pm, 7:30pm and 9pm. So even if your not playing, come out and enjoy food and pool and rooting on your team mates.
