We played Get More with Les.

Tami played first against new league player Joni in a 2:2. I missed the match, but that didn't stop Tami from beating Joni 2:2.

While Tami was playing, Brian played the parallel match (appropriately enough) on table 5 against Chuck in a 3:3, which I also missed. Brian got the early lead winning the first two matches. Unfortunately for Brian, the anticipation of pool kept him up again the previous night, and his lack of sleep, and Chuck, caught up to him, and he wasn't able to get a 3rd win. He lost 2:3.

Martino played next against Glenn in a 2:4. Martino won the first game but lost the second. I arrived at Q just in time to see Glenn make an unbelievable bank through traffic to sink his final ball followed by the 8 to take the third game. Unfortunately for Martino, Glenn continued shooting very well, and he went down, 1:4.

Next up was Paul against Bob in another 2:4. Paul came out shooting, making good shots and stringing runs together to win the first game. He was on his way to take the second, but missed on his final ball. Luckily, he left the cue ball almost pinned against Bob's remaining two balls which were each nearly pinned against a rail, leaving Bob without a makable shot. Or so we though... Bob proceeded to bank his nearly pinned ball across the table into the far corner, and simultaneously kick the cue into his other ball, sending into into the nearby corner. He then had an easy shot on the 8 which he sank for the game. Bob won the next game too, but Paul continued to shoot well and rallied to win the 4th game and the match, 2:2.

I played the final match against Les in yet another 2:4. I was shooting pretty well but Les was shooting better. After losing a close first game, I was on track to take the second after sneaking my last ball past one of Les's which was partly blocking a corner pocket. That left me with a long but not too difficult cut on the 8, but unfortunately I missed it, giving Les another turn at the table and the win. In the third game, Les didn't sink anything on the break; I missed my first shot, and Les then proceeded to run all 7 of the solids followed by the 8 for another loss for me. The fourth game was close, but unfortunately Les took that one too, taking me down 0:4 for the match.

So we won 2, lost 3.

John
