[Swift-devel] is restart log required

Hi,

I was doing some resume tests with trunk on ALCF and noticed the new
restart log contains a list of outputs produced by a run. I was wondering
if this log is needed at all.

In a scenario where user needs to resume a run, the status of the past run
could be checked by scanning the output locations specified in the source.
This will save the effort of maintaining a file and user will not have to
point to the restart log.

Just an observation, may be there is more to it than appears at first.
