[petsc-users] setting name for matlab objects

I am outputting some matrices and vectors to matlab using the ascii
viewer and setting format to matlab. However, the objects created in
matlab have names like

Mat_0x84000001_0
Vec_0x84000001_5

Is it possible for the user to set the name?  It seems to be possible
for Mathematica:
