PETSc installation problem

Dear PETSc team,

When trying to install PETSc-2.3.3-p11, I get the following output 
from ./config/configure.py:

Traceback (most recent call last):
   File "./config/configure.py", line 298, in <module>
     petsc_configure([])
   File "./config/configure.py", line 210, in petsc_configure
     import cPickle
ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.5/lib-dynload/cPickle.so: undefined 
symbol: PyUnicodeUCS4_DecodeRawUnicodeEscape

Is there something wrong with my python installation, or what else did 
I do wrong?
