HYPRE_BoomerAMG and FEI interface

Does the data have to be in a special format? Because I want to use 
Hypre's Finite Element Interface to input unstructured meshes.
Basically, if I format the data in the Hypre FEI format and send it 
through Petsc with these command line options then will it work.
