  Jed, oh yes I forgot that the new branch was made from the old branch before the old branch was fixed.

   In this case instead of cherry picking could I not just merge barry/use-mpi-datatype-F90Array into barry-fortran-petscsfbcastbegin to get the needed change? Wouldn't that be more natural?
