[petsc-dev] Strange configure side effects w/ mumps in next

I was trying to debug next with my standard c-debug arch with lots of
packages and configuration failed because mumps failed to build.  I
made a stripped-down arch with only the packages necessary for mumps,
and it configured fine.  There aren't any namespace issues in other
packages that are immediately obvious to me.

I've posted the two logs to dropbox, just in case someone has an idea.
