[petsc-dev] Utility functions for externalpackages

Is there a collection of utility routines used for interfacing to
externalpackages?  For example, I imagine that converting to different
kinds of sparse formats is somewhat common.  Or are the inputs to the
externalpackages that PETSc interfaces with all so different that no such
common routines exist?

The two external solvers I would like to create an interface for are WSMP
and MKL's PARDISO. Has this been done?
