[petsc-dev] Commit collision/corruption?

Can anyone determine the difference between these two commits?

They have the same parents and exactly the same content. The first one
shows a few files with 0 lines changed, but those file names are elided in
the second because they really did not change. I think the first is a
corrupt commit, but I don't know how it was created. Can anyone tell what
happened here?
