[petsc-dev] Diff between DMCreate_Xxx and DMXxxCreate?

I see both versions for Plex.  DMPlexCreate seems to create a more "bare" object, while DMCreate_Plex has more 
initialization, and the latter is what's registered in dmregall.c.  Are both versions necessary, for different settings?
