Looks like the biggest contributor to the increase from petsc-3.1 [to petsc-3.2]
are the following

petsc-3.2-p2/src/dm/impls/mesh/examples/tutorials/data
petsc-3.2-p2/src/dm/impls/mesh/examples/tutorials/illinois
petsc-3.2-p2/src/dm/ao/examples/tests/ex3d/

Not sure if these are needed in the tarball.
