TS_RK enhancements

I think we agree on almost everything, anyway,
let's just get this started with a few minor and uncontroversial changes,
and let's see whether I managed to use "hg bundle" correctly.

Here's one little bugfix and other than that it's just a bit of cosmetics /
getting rid of unused interfaces.
