WRF and Parallel NetCDF

Hi Han Lung,

Parallel NetCDF is in use by a number of users of the WRF system. I've
used it regularly to improve I/O performance on the NCAR IBM systems,
using GPFS, and on Lustre file systems at NREL and elsewhere. You don't
need to install NetCDF to use pNetCDF but people generally do. To run
WRF using pNetCDF, set the io_form_* variable in WRF's namelist.input
file to 11 (instead of 2, which means regular NetCDF). You can set
these separately for input, history, boundary data, restart, and any of
the auxiliary input and auxiliary history streams in WRF.

Please let me know if you need more information. You can also contact
wrfhelp at ucar.edu for assistance.

Regards,

John
