I'm a little sad I couldn't fix this witout adopting a "new" autoconf
feature, but I'll get over it... ok, i'm over it now.
I've commited a real fix in CVS: insted of #defining types, we
conditionally typedef based on the results of the configure check.
pnetcdf builds on both linux and darwin now. Do note that we'll need
autoconf 2.59 to create pnetcdf configure scripts, but I do not
anticipate that to be a terribly hard requirment to meet.
