Hi,

Can you try this:

mkdir /tmp/mpi ; cd /tmp/mpi
wget http://www.mcs.anl.gov/research/projects/mpich2/downloads/tarballs/1.5/mpich2-1.5.tar.gz
tar -xzf mpich2-1.5.tar.gz
cd mpich2-1.5*
mkdir build && cd build
../configure && make
sudo make install

It is my understanding that Argonne is not responsible for the Linux
package installs, but rather that a number of generous people do it on
their own.
