Oh, yes.  That's even better.  Hydra should be compatible with all 
versions of MPICH2, though newer versions use more efficient protocols 
(PMI) to launching and setting up the processes.  I don't remember when 
we switched to PMI-1.1; likely after 1.2.1p1.
