[mpich-discuss] problem of installation

mpd is deprecated.  hydra is the default process manager.
Did you try running any MPI program ? e.g.

mpiexec -n 4 cpi

If you have to use mpd, you could add --with-pm=hydra:mpd
as part of configure argument.
