Hi,
Please uninstall your existing version of MPICH2 and install it following the instructions in Section 9.4 (NOT Section 9.1) of the Installer's guide (available at http://www.mcs.anl.gov/research/projects/mpich2/documentation/index.php?s=docs). The error messages that you see is because MPICH2 was not installed correctly in the system (a known bug with Win7/Vista).
Regards,
Jayesh

Hello
Trying to setup MPICH2 to run on a single Windows 7 Professional multprocessor machine to execute MCNP5. Install of the windows binary seemed to go correctly.
Tried to set a user account in
wmpiregister.exe
Seemed to accomplish the task.
Tried to set things for a single machine in
wmpiconfig.exe
Get message
Error: No smpd passphrase specified through the registry or .smpd file exiting
I had a passphrase entered during the install of MPICH2. Created a .smpd file with that passphrase. File doesn’t seem to be compatible with Windows 7. I can see it from CYGWIN but not from Explorer.
Looked at
wmpiexec.exe
I don’t see any way to pass command line arguments to the program being executed. Typical usage
\MCNP\mcnp5\bin\windows\mcnp5mpi.exe i= \rm3\155-1600c.m
Where the input file path for the program is passed on the command line. Additional parameters are for output file names, neutron source files and others.
Trying from a command window.
C:\Program Files\MPICH2\bin>smpd.exe -start
OpenSCManager failed:
Access is denied. (error 5)
On the off chance, tried the command line for execution.
C:\Program Files\MPICH2\bin>mpiexec -n 7 \mcnp\mcnp5\windows\mcnp5mpi.exe i= \rm3\155-1600c.m
Please specify an authentication passphrase for smpd:
Error while connecting to host, No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. (10061)
Connect on sock (host=localhost, port=8676) failed, exhaused all end points
Unable to connect to 'localhost:8676',
sock error: Error = -1
Just for grins
C:\Program Files\MPICH2\bin>smpd.exe -stop
OpenSCManager failed:
Access is denied. (error 5)
Local IT is no help for anything outside of the standard desktop program set.
