Thanks for your suggestions. Surprisingly, I'm not really interested in
doing "actual" debugging, I'm using the debugger as a tracing mechanism.
Allow me to elaborate to make sense of this: I'm using LANL-Trace and
an instrumented MPICH to grab MPI-IO accesses as they go out to PVFS and
LANL-Trace by requires the use of -dbg to specify it's custom debugger
mpirun_dbg.ltrace. I plan to move away from LANL-Trace this summer, but
would like to continue working with it until then as I don't have enough
time to totally revamp my code base right now.
Seeing that John Bent is on this list, perhaps I can bother him to offer
some insight into my problem since he's listed in the LANL-Trace README.
