Hi,
 You should run MPI programs using the job launcher (mpiexec).
 Did you recompile your code with MPICH2 1.2.1 ? 
 MPICH2 currently does not support heterogeneous systems (You cannot run an MPI job spanning ia32 and x64 computers).

I have checked the software according to your suggestion. No error message prompt during the installtion and smpd.exe runs well, but it does't work well.The problems are: 
(1) When I run a parallel program with mpiexec. No error message prompt! But If I double clicked the exe of the parallel program. It says "can't find the mpich2mpi.dll". But on the directory of "C:\WINDOWS\system32", it has the mpich2mpi.dll. 

(2) When compile the cpi program on the computer. It have link error message, "Unresolved external symbol MPI_Init , Unresolved external symbol MPI_xxx,....". But the mpi.lib is on the directory of "..\MPICH2\lib\". 

I think though the installtion appeared to be right, but the mpich2mpi.dll and mpi.lib have error. So It can't work well. 

Also, Can I install 64-bit operation system (Such as Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edtion Service Pack 2 ) on some computer and install 32-bit operation system (Microsoft windows XP Professional Servie Pack 3) on the other computers. Thank you very much.

The wrapper utilities (wmpi*) are not currently distributed with the 64-bit version of MPICH2 (Missing wrapper utilities is not an indication of installation failure). 
Did you see any error message during the install ? 
Can you run mpiexec from the command prompt (mpiexec -n 2 hostname)?

Hi,I Install MPICH2 On my computer according to the instruction. It works well on the computer whose operation system is windows XP. But it doesn't work well on the Server 2003. On the Directory of "C:\Program Files\MPICH2\bin". It has only seven files. 
(1) clog2TOslog2.jar 
(2) irlog2rlog.exe 
(3) jumpshot.jar 
(4) jumpshot_launcher.jar 
(5) mpiexec.exe 
(6) smpd.exe 
(7) traceTOslog2.jar 
But does't have wmpiexc and wmpiconfig. I don't why the installtion failed! Who can tell me why? 
My Operation System is Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edtion Service Pack 2 
My MPICH2 is mpich2-1.2.1-win-x86-64.msi. 


I wonder if I can install 32 bit MPICH2 on Windows XP Install 64 bit MPICH2 on server 2003. And the two computers can make up a cluster.
