[mpich-discuss] reading data into a parallel program

Hi,
You could try sending MPI_BYTEs . MPI_Bcast() is a blocking call (Each MPI process blocks till its participation in the collective call/algorithm is complete). So you won't have to use any other MPI routines for waiting on the collective routines in MPI 2.2 standard.

Jayesh

Jayesh,
Thanks again for getting back to me. How do I broadcast "non-standard"
datasets using MPI? For example, how do i broadcast unstructured grids to
all the nodes? Also, should I use a barrier to hold all the processes till
i'm done broadcasting?
