[MPICH] mpd 32-64 bit compatibility

is 32 bit mpd plug compatible to 64 bit ?  that is, if I run a 32 bit mpd, then run an 64 bit application using
MPI calls, would that be a problem.  I think it is likely, but how-how it worked in most of the situation 
I have.
