[MPICH] MPI_Init error

Hi,

could anyone tell me which could be the reason for the following
MPI_Init error?  It is a program that is run on two machines from
172.30.1.12, the mpdboot was started correctly and verified with
mpdtrace:

[unset]: connect failed with connection refused
[unset]: Unable to connect to 172.30.1.12 on 32798
[unset]: aborting job:
Fatal error in MPI_Init: Other MPI error, error stack:
MPIR_Init_thread(247): Initialization failed
MPID_Init(71)........: channel initialization failed
MPID_Init(274).......: PMI_Init returned -1
