[MPICH] Contradictory mail message

The last error in this series of error messages is contradictory.  Do
you know what would cause it to be returned?

 

sp3 byteCount-RECV ERROR! Error Code:948541446

Invalid rank, error stack:

MPI_Recv(179): MPI_Recv(buf=0x0088F108, count=1, MPI_INT, src=0, tag=-1,
comm=0x84000001, status=0x0088F118) failed

MPI_Recv(104): Invalid rank has value 0 but must be nonnegative and less
than 0
