itaps-parallel Reminder: Telecon on Monday 8/25

Hi All,

Just a reminder that we have a telecon scheduled on Monday morning, 9 am 
pacific to discuss status of the SC08 tutorial.   The highest priority 
discussion item for the group is the status of the parallel interface 
implementations, including the issues recently raised via email, and we'll 
discuss those first.

I have started to rearrange the slides from the ITAPS tutorial at SciDAC 
07.  I think we'll be able to reuse much of that material, but there are 
several missing items:

Overview:
   - Need for advanced meshing and geom libraries in parallel simulations
   - Motivating examples
   - Comparison with other developmental approaches

Data Model
   - Parallelism in the ITAPS data model

Interfaces
   - Basic tenets and design philosophy
   - examples of accessing global information
   - modifying the underlying parallel data base
   - parallel operations

Need to update the services and use case scenarios slides

Slides regarding the hands on exercises

I will try to commit the slides to the repository before the telecon on 
Monday, but because of a recent cybersecurity incident at LLNL they've 
changed our ability to SSH and I've been having a hard time accessing our 
repositiory.  I may or may not get it figured out by 9 am...

Let's also talk about the status of hands-on exercises and the upcoming 
bootcamp agenda.
