For the two cases above that require manual intervention, that would address
the first one (changes to real ACIS source.)  To fix the second, we would
need to have a separate configure script for the ACIS subdirectory.
Otherwise we need to keep the current dummy directory setup so that automake
doesn't abort when it can't find the Makefile.am.  Of course, the ideal
solution would be to release the ACIS portion of CGM under the GPL also.
Our inability to do so is the root of these problems.
